Reception at Northfield Road Primary School is a warm, welcoming and exciting place where our youngest learners begin their school journey. We have two Reception classes that follow the Early Years Statutory Framework, providing a strong foundation for learning through a play-based curriculum that is both planned and purposeful. Our learning environment is designed to spark curiosity and creativity, offering rich opportunities for interaction and language development.

Children are supported and challenged through high-quality adult-led and child-initiated activities, helping them to grow in confidence and independence. Clear rules and routines are in place to ensure that all children feel safe, secure and ready to learn, and we have high expectations for behaviour and effort from the very start. Our Reception provision is a springboard for future success, laying the essential groundwork for a lifelong love of learning.
