RE
RE Intent
Our RE Curriculum is intellectually challenging and personally enriching.
Children acquire and develop knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other principal religions represented in our local community and Great Britain. The curriculum is deliberately planned enabling pupils to explore the way that religious beliefs shape life and behaviour, develop the ability to make reasoned and informed judgements and enhance their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
RE promotes respect and open-mindedness of a wide range of different faiths and beliefs. It affords opportunities for rich theological discussions and a focus on critical thinking and personal reflection. Through expression, learners contextualise their learning through their own lives as citizens of modern Britain. RE plays an important role in promoting social awareness and understanding. British values are embedded ensuring pupils build knowledge of their rights and responsibilities.
The RE curriculum is designed to encourage creativity, imagination, enquiry, debate, open discussions and independence.
