    PHONIC TEACHING GOES LIVE!

    Message from Read, write INC:

From Monday 23rd March we’re scheduling Read Write Inc. Phonics lessons on Facebook and YouTube for children to watch at home.

We will release three short Speed Sound lessons with one of our trainers every day for the next two weeks. The films will only be available at the times below:

    • Set 1 Speed Sounds at 9.30 am and again at 12.30 pm
    • Set 2 Speed Sounds at 10.00 am and again at 1.00 pm
    • Set 3 Speed Sounds at 10.30 am and again at 1.30 pm

Please note: the films are streamed live and won’t be available at other times.

We’re also releasing a film of a poem for Reception and Year 1 children to join in with at 2.00 pm every day. The poems will be available on YouTube to watch again and again.

A great opportunity for children to learn these by heart!

    Films for parents

Films for parents to help their child learn to read at home with Read Write Inc. Phonics are available on our website and YouTube channel. The YouTube channel will have a quick face-lift to help parents find the films easily. We’re adding a parent film to Facebook every day too.

We want you to know that we are there for you and will continue to do all that we can for you and the children at this difficult time. Please do get in touch if you have any ideas of how we can support.

  • Message to Students

Fri 20 Mar 2020 Mrs Bennett

I have been writing to your families a lot over the past few days but today I am writing to YOU!

Firstly, I wanted to say how proud I am of you all – my troopers. You have been fantastic this year but especially over the past few weeks. It has been strange times – having to wash your hands about 50 times per day, must have felt a bit odd, nevertheless you did as you were asked, without any grumbling and for that I am very grateful.

It has felt very strange this week as your classes have become smaller and smaller. Some of your friends have not been here because they have not felt well or have been away from school so they did not catch any bugs. School life has carried on and you have helped to make this as normal as possible –well done!

It is going to become even stranger, as of today, school will close for most of you. We have given you a pack of activities and there will be online learning provided each day, you should already have the log in details and your teacher will be setting you work and activities.

We look forward to having you back at Northfield Road Primary School. If you have questions for your teacher, you can do this via Google Classrooms.

A special message for Year 6:

I am uncertain whether we will return to school before the end of the academic year, this means I may not be able to say goodbye and wish you good luck for the future but when schools re-open, wherever you may be, I will make sure that we have a reunion in school (that is where you can all come to school together) and celebrate your journey at Northfield Road Primary.

While you are off school, remember to spend time with precious family, read books, play games and stay safe. I look forward to seeing you all again in a few months’ time.

    Take care troops,

    Mrs Bennett

  • COVID-19 update 19.03.20

    Thu 19 Mar 2020

I’m now writing to let you know that we have now been instructed to close the school to almost all children after this Friday until further notice.

We are waiting for the government to publish more information how this will look.

All other children will need to stay at home, so we ask that you do not send your child into school from Monday onwards.

Please note that this is a national closure – as you may have heard in the news – so while it is a challenging situation, we are not alone. We’ll re-open fully as soon as we can and will let you know when this is by email and via our website.

This is as much as we know right now and we appreciate your continued patience as we deal with this ever-changing situation. We understand that this latest news will have an impact on you and your family and it’s far from ideal, but we’ll continue to keep in touch with any updates as the situation develops.

Thank you again for your continued support, and we will be in touch with more information when we can.
